Next fish again
In March, I was in France for 10 days so the Aquarium remained without my presence. After I came back, I noticed significant growth of the Cryptocoryne plants. It seems that the fertilizer doses have positive effect. For some reason the fish have pulled out the Eleocharis parvula plants.
The Rataj’s Mangan+ fertilizer finished and I don’t have any replacement for that. I started to cut the old leaves of the Cryptocoryne plants. It stimulates their growth. I had to even remove some of them and put them somewhere else. I also started cutting the Ludwigia repens plants as soon as they reach the 2/3 of the height as the Rataj recommends. The effect is that they create new leaves and it is not necessary to shorten them and replant. I removed some of the old Vallisneria and Echinodorus plants by cutting them at the bottom.
I remove algae with a magnetic cleaner with a period of two weeks. I had problems with algae at the bottom because the magnetic cleaner didn’t reach there. I got a small JK Animals’ razor blade cleaner for 45 Kč (US$ 2) at the Sklorex store. I can now reach the parts very close to the gravel and the corners of the aquarium where I had problems before. The work is fine with it.
On Tuesday 10/4 I bought new fish in the Sklorex store: One couple of Ram cichlids (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi), one couple of Ram cichlids electric blue (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi electric blue), one couple of Ram cichlids gold (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi gold), two Siamese algae eaters (Crossocheilus siamensis) a five Cardinal tetras (Paracheirodon axelrodi). I put them in the quarantine aquarium. On Saturday I moved all Ram cichlids to the main aquarium. I moved the Siamese algae eaters and Cardinal tetras on Monday. As usually, the other fish were chasing them at the beginning but they left them alone in the end.
I received a new ceramic disc for the diffuser from China. The old one was already full of algae so its bubbles weren’t so tiny. It is possible to order new discs for US$ 1 on eBay. I replaced the disc and the bubbles are tiny again.
